Louise Bourgeois : Beyond Sculpture

MoMA’s new exhibition opens a little-known dimension of the artist’s practice: prints and books, shedding light on Bourgeois’s creative process.

Louis Bourgeois is known as a celebrated sculptor, who channeled her emotional struggles into art. She worked around themes and motifs of painful memories, jealousy, anger, that turned into visual metaphors. This autumn, MoMA explores the little-known side of the renowned artist, presenting around 300 works, including prints, illustrated books, drawings and early paintings. On the view from September 24th through January 28th, Louise Bourgeois: An Unfolding Portrait is organized by a longtime friend of the artist’s and a leading scholar of her work—Deborah Wye.
