Unexpected connections explored in an online exhibition
A contemporary art gallery Fort Gansevoort launches a series of online exhibitions with invited curators and critics.
Deprived of in-person gallery exhibition experiences, it seems that the new reality of staying at home offers us abundance of online substitutes. Art can have this effect of taking us someplace else, lightening the burden of an anxious mind, even if for a short time only. Let’s look through the images of 23 artworks, seeing not some pictured plastered randomly on a webpage, but try to uncover the unexpected connections the curator Terry R. Myers is talking about.
LA-based writer educator, and independent curator Terry R. Myers presents the first exhibition in the Fort Gasevoort series, titled «A cloud in a box». With this online exhibition series, the gallery aims to highlight artists from around the globe and aim to initiate lively discourse among larger and more diverse audiences. For the inaugural online exhibition Terry R. Myers brings together seven artists working in Berlin, LA, Santiago, Stockholm, and Tel Aviv. You can decipher for yourself what Milly Barzellai, Jeni Spota C, Peter Köhler and other creators in this exhibition have in common. Take a «behind the scenes» look, virtually walking to the beautiful studio of Vicente Matte, meet Chinatsu Ikeda in her studio, and see Pilar Trujillo at work. In other words, there are Instagram stories and whole social media ecosystem that can help you augment the experience of online exhibition, taking a deeper dive into the art.
