Another online exhibition from Hauser & Wirth this time explores themes of absence of human contact in drawings.

In words of George Condo, he doesn’t think of the term isolation, rather it’s a «space to create without being watched». Condo’s «Distanced Figures» continues exploration of different psychological states, and it just happens to be so the recurrent themes in his works resonate so precisely with the current situation.

With graphite, ink, pen and wax crayon, the artist created a series of figures, linked by the intersecting lines, without the connected viewpoints. Made during the last three weeks, «Distanced Figures» portrait drawings reflect different emotions, occurring simultaneously, and so familiar to millions of people sharing the experience of self-isolation. You can enjoy George Condo’s work online at Hauser & Wirth, but all the works on view are already sold. «Distanced Figures» online exhibition marks the launch of Hauser & Wirth new global charitable initiative #artforbetter, that donates 10% of gross profits from sales of works to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization.
