The recent opening of 'Painting in the River of Angels: Judy Baca and The Great Wall' at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) has introduced an extraordinary transformation. Esteemed Los Angeles artist Judy Baca and her team from the Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC) have converted LACMA’s Resnick Pavilion into a dynamic studio space. Currently, they are diligently crafting new segments of The Great Wall of Los Angeles, showcasing significant events from the 1960s such as the Chicano Movement, the Watts Rebellion, and the community activism led by the Black Panthers.
In addition to these mesmerizing mural sections, the exhibition offers a rare glimpse into Baca’s archive, featuring materials never previously displayed. Visitors eager to witness this historic transformation firsthand are encouraged to reach out to press@lacma.org to arrange a visit.
Please be advised that LACMA will be closing at 1 pm on Saturday, November 4, for an exclusive private event. Stay updated with the latest developments in the museum's ongoing construction by visiting Unframed.
