Are you a teen interested in animation? MoMA Teens Media Lab is launching with an exciting workshop led by animator, filmmaker, and puppeteer Julia Chien!
On Saturday, March 8, participants aged 14–19 will get hands-on experience in animation by altering preexisting images, working both independently and collaboratively. No prior art-making experience is needed—just bring your creativity!
Julia Chien, a Taiwanese American artist based in Brooklyn, is known for her award-winning mixed-media films showcased at international festivals. Her work explores themes of loneliness and connection through unique storytelling, often featuring lowly animals as central figures.
This free, two-hour workshop will provide all necessary materials, plus snacks and MetroCards. Spots are limited, so be sure to register for either the 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. or 2:00–4:00 p.m. session.
