Beyond Exhibitions MoMA’s Photo-Oriented Events
On the occasion of Being:New Photography, a biannual exhibition, that this year presents works of 17 artists, MoMA will hold several great events
First of, at the Celeste Bartos Theater on April 18th, the day of the opening, the museum will host a panel discussion about expanded portraiture. The discussion will not be limited to photography only, shifting focus on other forms of representation, exploring alternative definitions and approaches to portraiture.
For a month, starting on March 20th, MoMA will also held a contemporary photography class on Tuesdays. Under the guidance of an art historian David Smucker, the course will present a survey of modern and contemporary photography, and how photographers have preserved moments in time, challenging stereotypical ways of looking at the world.
