After a decade-long representation by Bortolami gallery, the German-born painter opens a new chapter of her career with Lévy Gorvy.

Described as a ‘rare artist who has her roots in a deep European tradition and yet profoundly belongs to a very meaningful group of American artists’, Jutta Koether developed a unique approach to painting. She departs from the question of what it means to paint, and involves viewers as active participants in the evolution of her works’ meaning.

With spaces in New York, London and Hong Kong, Lévy Gorvy represents artists like Martial Raysse, Pat Steir, and Dan Colen, and Koether’s ‘constant renegotiation of the dynamics of abstraction and figuration as well as that of the self and the other, connects her to the work of many artists the gallery is committed to’, the press release states.

Jutta Koether
