Prepare for a thrilling blend of horror and local folklore with Netflix’s first Indonesian zombie film, Abadi Nan Jaya (WT), directed by the acclaimed Kimo Stamboel. Featuring a stellar lead cast, including Eva Celia, Mikha Tambayong, Donny Damara, Dimas Anggara, Marthino Lio, Kiki Narendra, and Varen Arianda Calief, the film is slated to premiere in 2025.
Set in a remote village near Yogyakarta, Abadi Nan Jaya (WT) tells the story of a dysfunctional family running a renowned herbal medicine business. The owner of the company attempts to innovate by creating a new recipe, which ends up triggering a zombie outbreak.
"It has been an incredible experience for me to begin the production of the film Abadi Nan Jaya. This is my first time directing a zombie-themed film, and I am very proud because this film not only introduces a new horror element for me but also showcases and elevates Indonesian culture on the international stage through our collaboration with Netflix," Kimo says.
Combining the horror of a zombie apocalypse with elements of local culture, including traditional herbal medicine and complex family dynamics, Abadi Nan Jaya (WT) is a distinctly Indonesian story. Produced by Edwin Nazir, the film is written by Kimo Stamboel, Agasyah Karim, and Khalid Kashogi. Kimo, known for his evocative touch with horror films, including the box office hits The Queen of Black Magic, Dancing Village: The Curse Begins, and Sewu Dino, brings his signature touch to this groundbreaking project.
Abadi Nan Jaya (WT) is set to premiere globally in 2025, exclusively on Netflix.
