On Friday, May 17th, London will welcome the UK premiere of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga at the iconic BFI IMAX, ahead of the film's official release on Friday, May 24th. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth star in the latest addition to the Mad Max universe, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, directed by the Academy Award-winning mastermind George Miller. This much-anticipated film marks a return to the dystopian world Miller first introduced over 30 years ago with the seminal Mad Max films. The new standalone action adventure delves into the origins of the powerhouse character Furiosa, first introduced in the multiple Oscar-winning global hit Mad Max: Fury Road.
The film, a collaboration between Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures, is produced by Miller and his longtime partner, Oscar-nominated producer Doug Mitchell (Mad Max: Fury Road, Babe), under their Australian-based Kennedy Miller Mitchell banner.
Plot Synopsis
As the world descends into chaos, young Furiosa is abducted from the Green Place of Many Mothers by a formidable Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. As they traverse the Wasteland, they encounter the Citadel, ruled by The Immortan Joe. Amidst the struggle for dominance between the two tyrants, Furiosa faces numerous challenges as she strives to find her way back home.
Cast and Crew
Taylor-Joy takes on the titular role, with Hemsworth, Browne, and Burke rounding out the cast. The screenplay is co-written by Miller and Mad Max: Fury Road co-writer Nico Lathouris.
Miller's behind-the-scenes team includes first assistant director PJ Voeten, second unit director and stunt coordinator Guy Norris, director of photography Simon Duggan (Hacksaw Ridge, The Great Gatsby), composer Tom Holkenborg, sound designer Robert Mackenzie, editor Eliot Knapman, visual effects supervisor Andrew Jackson, and colorist Eric Whipp. The creative team also boasts other longtime collaborators: production designer Colin Gibson, editor Margaret Sixel, sound mixer Ben Osmo, costume designer Jenny Beavan, and makeup designer Lesley Vanderwalt, each of whom earned an Oscar for their work on Mad Max: Fury Road.
The premiere at BFI IMAX promises to be a star-studded event, setting the stage for what is sure to be another epic chapter in the Mad Max saga.
