Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation Welcomes Daniel Sallick and Samira Sine to Board of Trustees
The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation announced the election of Daniel Sallick and Samira Sine to its Board of Trustees during the December 12, 2024, meeting. This marks the first new appointments since Mariët Westermann began her tenure as CEO and Director on June 1, 2024.

Daniel Sallick is a Managing Partner at Avoq, a strategic communications and government relations firm based in Washington, D.C. An art collector and cultural advocate, he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden from 2016 to 2024, overseeing transformative projects and visitor growth. With a political science background and experience on Capitol Hill, Sallick is deeply committed to the role of art in shaping society.
Samira Sine is a journalist, philanthropist, and advocate for women’s health, education, and digital equity. Her career spans roles with BBC, Reuters, and The Huffington Post, as well as leadership at Common Sense Media, where she expanded its global footprint and philanthropic network. Born in Calcutta and raised in the UAE and Oman, Sine brings a wealth of cultural insight and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in child psychology at Harvard University.
Mariët Westermann expressed excitement about the new trustees, emphasizing their ability to enrich the Guggenheim’s mission to make modern and contemporary art accessible to all. “Their perspectives will help us connect with an ever-broader global audience and further our commitment to creating transformative art experiences,” she said.
