SXSW 2025 Film & TV Festival: Celebrating Bold Storytelling and Fresh Voices

The 32nd SXSW Film & TV Festival has once again spotlighted groundbreaking filmmakers and captivating narratives. This year's Jury and Special Awards winners highlight bold storytelling, innovative filmmaking, and compelling performances.

Top Honors:
Amy Wang’s Slanted won the Narrative Feature Competition, praised as an "unflinching satirical thriller" that explores racial identity in a fresh and daring way. In the Documentary Feature Competition, Shuffle by Benjamin Flaherty took the top spot, showcasing an insightful and thought-provoking journey.

Special Jury Awards & Recognitions:

  • Annapurna Sriram’s F–ktoys and actress Amanda Peet’s role in Fantasy Life received Special Jury Awards.

  • In the Current of Being by Cameron Kostopoulos won the Agog Immersive Impact Award, while Reflections of Little Red Dot by Chloé Lee earned the Jury Award in the immersive category.

  • Additional accolades included the Redbreast Unhidden Award for Andy Reid’s Brief Somebodies and the Vimeo Staff Pick Award for Marco Novoa’s Familiar.

The Audience Award voting is still open and will conclude on March 15, with winners to be announced soon. This year’s festival continues to amplify fresh perspectives and daring artistry, proving once again why SXSW remains a premier platform for visionary filmmakers.
