Sundance Film Festival in Search of A New Director
Longtime Sundance Film Festival director John Cooper will step aside following the 2020 gathering in Utah.
This January will mark Cooper’s 30tg consecutive festival, after which he will move to the newly created emeritus director role. During his tenure to date, Cooper made a array of signature achievements including the creation of the Short Film section and competition, as well as the Documentary Premiere, NEXT and New Frontier sections. Opening a chapter of the festival in London and Hong Kong would also be impossible without John Cooper. In his new role, Copper will focus on special projects and oversight of the forthcoming 40th anniversary of the Sundance Institute, which will be marked in 2021.
