After two decades in making, artists David McDermott and Peter McGough will unveil their public installation project honouring the famed writer.

You may know Oscar Wilde as a renowned author, novelist, poet, and playwright, but it’s not that much his creative life, that inspired two artists. Gay liberation and fight for equality is a centuries-long struggle, and Wilde was one of the earliest and most courageous forebears.

Coinciding with the artists’ museum retrospective, artist duo David McDermott and Peter McGough will finally present their project on September 11th in New York. On view until December 2nd, The Oscar Wilde Temple is curated by Alison Gingeras and will be housed inside the Church of the Village. Next year, The Oscar Wilde Temple will travel to London.
