TIFF : Who Walked Away with An Award ?

Even having cut the program by 20% this year, and despite the buyers’ complaints, Toronto International Film Festival is a ‘monster of an event’, as The Guardian put it. This year’s program included 255 premiers, screened over 10 days starting September 7th. The participating films from all over the world not only took the audience and the jury to extremely different places on our planet, they allowed traveling through different characters universes.

TIFF main prize—the Grolsch People’s Choice Award is often seen as an Oscar bellwether, and this year Martin McDonagh’s ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’ is the winner. I, Tonya and Call Me By Your Name were the runner-ups of the People’s Choice Award. Faces Places won in the documentary category, followed by Super Size Me 2: Holy Chicken! and Long Time Running. TIFF among other award categories also focuses on international Asian film premieres. This year, The Great Buddha+, which premiered at Taipei Film Festival this summer, received the NETPAC Award.

多伦多国际影展的最终大奖-高仕观众票选奖被认为是奥斯卡的先行奖，而今年马丁-麦当娜的“三块广告牌”是该大奖的最终得主。“我,托尼亚” “请以你的名字呼唤我”是该奖的亚军和季军。Faces Places 赢得了纪录片类的观众票选奖，第二名和第三名分别是 Super Size Me 2: Holy Chicken! 和Long Time Running。多伦多国际影展也设立亚洲的Premier电影。今年，暑假在台北电影节出席的Great Buddha+获得电影评审团奖。
