MoMA Teens invites high schoolers to celebrate creativity, self-expression, and community with an exciting hands-on art-making session on Thursday, January 16, at 4:30 p.m. Participants will craft their own hand-painted wooden sculptures inspired by the concept of chosen family. This program encourages attendees to explore the unique characteristics that define their relationships, whether with friends, family, or even pets, using color, line, and shape as tools for self-expression.

The session also provides an opportunity to delve into the rich history of LGBTQ+ communities and the ways they have built meaningful connections over time. Whether you're a seasoned artist or new to creating, this welcoming space fosters exploration and individuality in a supportive environment.

Held at the Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Education and Research Building, Open Art Space offers everything participants need to join, including Metrocards, snacks, and supplies. Best of all, no registration or prior art experience is required—just drop in and bring your imagination.
