amfAR Cannes Gala Raises $20 Million

Fight against AIDS with one of the most coveted events during the Cannes International Film Festival.

amfAR Gala Cannes returned to the Hôtel du Cap for the 24th edition, star-studded as always. The guests included 2017 Cannes Film Festival jury members Jessica Chastain, Will Smith, Pedro Almodovar among others. Nicole Kidman and Dustin Hoffman presented the event, and auctioneers Simon de Pury and Sandra Nedvetskaja opened the auction. Artworks by Haas Brothers, Richard Hambleton, John Giorno, Jonas Wood were among the lots auctioned off. The bidders could also go for experiences such as meeting the Dalai Lama, or playing a soccer match against David Beckham.

The 24th Gala night netted $20 million and to date, this annual event raised more than $190 million for amfAR’s life-saving research programs aimed to combat AIDS.
