PRADA movie night in Beijing

After a somewhat teaser, as it was partially screened during Prada’s spring 2017 multi-platform fashion show in September, now David O. Russell’s film is finally available in full. The screening in Beijing on November 16th gathered the crème de la crème of the capital’s fashion and art worlds. Actresses Tan Zhuo, Mai Zi, supermodels Zhao Lei and WANGY, director Lu Yang, founders of M WOODS Wanwan and Lin Han were among those, who attended the event.

2016 seems to be wrapping up with a clear message: we are firmly in the era, when fashion and cinema are marrying happily. It’s enough to remember Tom Ford’s grand success with “Nocturnal Animals” at this year’s Venice Film Festival, but elaborate fashion films are thriving too. David O. Russell’s directorial effort for the famous fashion house unveils on another level just how art has always played a major role in Miuccia Prada’s work. Silent film “Past Forward” features a mile-long list of Hollywood credits at the end and a bevy of familiar faces—from Freida Pinto, Allison Williams, John Krasinski and Connie Britton to newcomer Kuoth Wiel. The story centers around three glamorous women, who act out parallel stories, set in a dreamlike, black-and-white world. For those who hadn’t got a chance to attend the premiere in Beijing, the movie will soon be available at Prada’s official website.
