Darkest Before Dawn : Beyond Nordic Noir

Nordic Contemporary presents the new exhibition, focusing on questions of hope, unconscious action, and forces driving us towards renewal.

On view from October 16th through 29th, the exhibition brings together five Danish, Finnish and Norwegian artists, who reinterpret the famous quote in various paintings and sculptures. The works, which will be presented in a new Nordic Contemporary place, are animated by duality and contradictions, melting together artistic views on the darkness in Nordic culture and the different ways to communicate it in the modern world. In other words, even amidst the darkest of Nordic noir, there’s hope.

Nordic Contemporary serves as a platform for contemporary art by Scandinavian artists, to showcase in Paris. Darkest Before Dawn will under one roof the works of Farshad Farzankia, Christian Lemmerz, Yngvild Saeter, Asger Dybvad Larsen, and Jenni Hiltunen.
