Subverting the Notions of Gender, Sexuality, and Identity
The New Museum is set to present the first American retrospective of the provocative work of British artist Sarah Lucas
If you’ve seen at least one of Sarah Lucas’s works, you won’t forget it: even though socially acceptable norms now are different than 30 years ago, Lucas’s art pieces don’t lose their intense edge. On view from September 26th through January 20th, 2019, the exhibition brings together more than 150 works in photography, sculpture, and installation. Reviewing more than 30 years of artistic practice, Sarah Lucas: Au Naturel exhibition will take place across the three main floors of the New Museum, addressing the ways in which Lucas’s works engage with crucial debates about gender and power.
