Frida Kahlo Up Close

This summer, London’s Victoria and Albert Museum will present an extraordinary collection of personal artifacts and clothing that belonged to the iconic Mexican artist.

On view from June 16th, Frida Kahlo: Making Her Self Up will feature more than 200 objects, never before shown outside of Mexico. These intimate belongings were locked away for 50 years after the artist’s death in Kahlo’s home, La Case Azul (The Blue House) and will now let the audience to experience a fresh perspective on Kahlo’s compelling life story. The collection features an array of items from artist’s signature embroidered skirts, handcrafted accessories and makeup,  to medical corsets, medications, and prosthetic leg, which paint a darker picture of Kahlo’s troubled life.

Along with the exhibition, the museum will roll out a series of special events, curator talk, and workshops on illustration. Definitely, an event not to miss in the art lovers’ calendars.
