Joan Miró’s Pictorial Universe at MoMA
MoMA announced an in-depth presentation of great Spanish artist’s works, centered around his monumental painting “The Birth of the World”
MoMA’s commitment to Miró’s work is extensive: the museum has one of the finest and most comprehensive collections of his works in the world, and has repeatedly presented retrospectives and focused exhibitions. On view from February 24th through July 6th, Joan Miró: Birth of the World will give the audience another chance to dive into the Spanish artist’s peculiar world, and see his works from the perspective of his intense engagement with poetry, the creative process, material experimentation, and the seen and unseen world.
Putting on display MoMA’s extensive collection of Miró’s work, augmented by several key loans, the exhibition will explore approximately 60 paintings, works on paper, prints, illustrated books, collages, and objects primarily made between 1920 and the early 1950s, which are rarely shown together.
