Look Into the Inner Eye
LACMA presents Africa-centered exhibition The Inner Eye: Vision and Transcendence in African Arts.
Starting on February 26th, the exhibition in Los Angeles County Museum of Art will showcase more than 100 works of sculpture and textiles from diverse cultures in Africa. The exhibition will last until July 9th, guiding audience through different perspectives and aesthetic principles, embodied in artworks form the 13th to 19th centuries. The exhibition explores transcendence of ordinary existence, bridging visible and invisible worlds. The Inner Eye will also present an opportunity to display several significant LACMA acquisitions made in recent years, including Bamana Gwan mother and child figure (acquired in 2014) and a selection of Kuba raffia pile embroidered cloths (acquired in 2009). You can start this amazing immersive cultural journey with an open to public lecture, provided on the opening day.
