Plan A Visit to New Museum This Summer

The New Museum released additions to it’s summer program with diverse solo exhibitions and more.

To begin with, the New Museum prepared two US debut exhibitions of artists, who channel traumatic experiences of war and revolutions into art. The exhibition of Iraqi-Kurdish artist Hiwa K is set to open on May 2nd. Titled Blind as  the Mother Tongue, it showcases works inspired by political events, chance encounters, and artist’s own experiences including fleeing Iraq on foot. Another first US solo exhibition of Armenian-Egyptian artist Anna Boghiguian opens on the same day and also will be on view until August 19th. Boghiguian’s raw, expressionists works combine painting, drawing, writing, collage and sculpture. In addition, dreamlike scenes that build on references to literature, folklore, magic, and childhood memories—works of Guatemalan artist Naufus Ramírez-Figueroa will be on view from June 6th in Lobby Gallery. Finally, museum guests will be able to see for themselves how the saying “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure’ looks in art. A work by Aaron Fowler, who creates elaborate assemblage paintings from discarded found objects will be decorating the storefront window from May 2nd, through August 19th.
