The fate of humanity through art, daily life rituals, the other side of touristic images, and investigations into subjectivity—four solo exhibitions, four treats for art lovers at MoMA museums.

There’s a lot going on in MoMA museums, enough to cover your artistic craving through the cold time of the year. Four exhibitions, currently on the view, caught our attention in particular. Naeem Mohaiemen, explores the contemporary contemporary legacies of decolonization, highlighting the multiple viewpoints and perspectives on the development of modernity. There Is No Last Man, on the view at MoMA PS1 until March 11th, the artists brings together two distinct works, inspired by the people close and dear to the artist: his father and great uncle.

At the same time, the first monographic exhibition of Cathy Wilkes, celebrates the milestone of her artistic career— Wilkes’s receipt of the first Maria Lassnig Prize. The exhibition, also on the view until March 11th, features approximately 50 works, both from collections and new pieces created for the show.

Another solo exhibition brings the multimedia works of Alvaro Barrington to MoMA PS1 until December 31st. Expect lots of close-ups, including faces, body parts, and tropical vegetation, interlaced in an effort to show the alternative narrative behind postcard-perfect pictures.

Finally, the six decades of Carolee Schneemann’s artistic career, are brought in the first comprehensive retrospective, on the view until March 11th. Kinetic Painting brings the audience rarely seen examples of the artist’s early paintings and their evolution to the groundbreaking innovations in performance, film, and installation.
