Viva Arte: a peek into 57th Venice Biennale
Christine Macel, this edition's curator, opened up about what's awaiting the art world in three months.
After «All the World's Features», the previous Biennale theme, voicing a lot of dark, troubling emotions through art, the 57th edition indicates a significant change in direction. Christine Macel, the chief curator of contemporary art at the Centre Pompidou, outlined her plans for the Biennale.
There will be 120 artists, 103 show casing for the first time at the Venice Biennale. Christine Macel works on her own, and this time is no exception: she will be directing the Biennale without any collaborations from other curators. The main focus is to bring the public closer to the artists' practice and emphasizing the important role artists play in reinventing the place of art.
All the World's Features
