Sundance Institute continues to support voices of independent artists. Partnering with Sandbox Films, the institute selected 12 filmmakers and eight projects that will receive unrestricted and non-recoupable grands totaling $255,000. The Sandbox fund aims to support projects that are at the intersection of science and nonfiction storytelling. In words of Jessica Harrop, Head of Production and Development at Sandbox Films: “Science storytelling does not have to be didactic or by the book. We are consistently excited by the creative and unique storytelling techniques that are being used by these artists from around the world to tell stories about science.” The selected projects include: Give Love Create, How Free People Think, A Life Illuminated, Untitled Deep Sea Taxonomy Documentary, Herbaria, Science Fiction, Space is a Monstrous Animal, Untitled Dwarfism Project.
