In its 39th jury session, the Berlinale World Cinema Fund (WCF) has issued 14 funding recommendations for projects or films from Egypt, Argentina, Chile, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ecuador, Iran, Israel, Mozambique, Nigeria, the Republic of Belarus, Rwanda, Senegal, and Thailand. The current funding, totaling €360,000, supports eleven production and three distribution initiatives. In times of crisis, the WCF is delighted to enhance its support for independent cinema, fostering the visibility of the cultural complexity of our world.

Reflecting on the outcomes of the latest WCF jury session, Vincenzo Bugno, Director of WCF, remarked, "We look at the results of the last WCF jury session in awe: strength, courage, and incredible creativity are woven into these future films. Most of the supported WCF projects delve deeply into the diverse complexity of our world. Cinematic perspectives on a world not easily deciphered, often featuring characters who may live far from us yet are strangely familiar. This is cinema as empathy and empathy as a cross-border way of life. We are thrilled to support these projects."
