Filmmaker Víctor Erice, born in Karrantza, Spain in 1940, was warmly honored today with the Donostia Award at the Victoria Eugenia Theatre. This momentous occasion marked exactly 50 years since Erice had stood on the same stage to receive the Golden Shell for his debut solo feature, "The Spirit of Beehive."
In a poignant ceremony, actress Ana Torrent, who had starred in "The Spirit of Beehive" at the tender age of 6, presented Erice with the prestigious Donostia Award. The event included a screening of Erice's fourth directorial venture, "Close Your Eyes."
