SANTA MONICA, CA. (March 28, 2024) — Right Here, Right Now Global Climate Alliance (Right Here, Right Now) proudly announces that Green Day has been chosen as the headliner and international honoree of the United Nations Human Rights-supported Mini Global Climate Concert, set to take place on April 2 at The Fillmore in San Francisco, California. This groundbreaking event, co-hosted by United Nations Human Rights and the Recording Academy®, seeks to address the human rights crisis arising from climate change.

Five-time GRAMMY® Award-winning global rock superstars Green Day have been selected for their unwavering commitment to social justice and environmental causes.

Formed in 1986 in Berkeley, CA, Green Day stands as one of the most beloved and best-selling bands of all time, boasting over 75 million records sold worldwide and 10 billion cumulative audio/visual streams. Their 14th studio album, *Saviors*, released on January 19, 2024, soared to No. 1 on seven different Billboard charts and marked their fifth No. 1 in the UK. Embarking on their massive global stadium tour, *The Saviors Tour*, on May 30, Green Day will treat fans to performances of *Dookie* and *American Idiot* in their entirety, alongside other *Saviors* cuts and fan favorites. Described by Entertainment Weekly as "The most influential band of their generation," and lauded by Rolling Stone as inspiring "more young bands to start than any act this side of Kiss," Green Day continues to captivate audiences worldwide.

The Right Here, Right Now Mini Global Climate Concert Series brings together some of the biggest stadium acts to perform at intimate venues worldwide, shedding light on human rights-based approaches and solutions to climate change and its attendant suffering. The April 2 concert, featuring Green Day, promises to be a highlight of the series. Tickets for this intimate benefit concert will be available for purchase starting Friday, March 29, at 12 noon PST through Ticketmaster.

"We are delighted to honor Green Day and thrilled to have this incredible band lead the charge in launching the international Right Here, Right Now Mini Global Climate Concert Series," remarks Volker Türk, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. "As renowned artists and activists, Green Day consistently leverage their significant influence and platform to raise awareness about the impact of climate change on both people and the environment. The United Nations, founded in San Francisco almost 80 years ago, was established to safeguard human rights and dignity from crisis and tragedy. It is only fitting that we return to San Francisco to promote human rights-based approaches and solutions to the climate crisis as co-hosts, alongside the Recording Academy."
