Hollywood awards season has officially started: the Golden Globe Award night has brought a lot.

Jimmy Fallon, the Tonight Show’s star has taken the stage to host the 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards. The triumpher of the night, no doubts, was Damien Chazelle’s “La La Land”. The movie won in all the nominations it had been listed, leading with seven awards. The best drama “Moonlight” received six, followed by “Manchester By The Sea”, which gathered five globes.

The Golden Globe also covers TV—and this year has been a big one for British actors—Claire Foy, Tom Hiddleston and Thandie Newton returned with trophies. Maryl Streep received the 2017 Cecil B.DeMille Awards for the lifetime achievements in cinema. The eight-time Golden Globe winner has been nominated an astounding 30 times. Her powerful speech in support of press freedom in the US was one of the most prominent moments of the night. It provoked uproar and almost 2.5 million views in a matter of hours.

The Golden Globe ceremony is traditionally seen as an indicator on Oscar winners and we’ll know soon enough as the biggest night in Hollywood calendar is approaching.
