Ludovica Amati — The Maker

Regarding its precision and synthesis, this is how Ludovica’s new project — The five Truths - was born and has evolved, given that the esoteric need has overcome by far its exoteric realization in the world of real objects. And, also in this case, thanks to a significant caper, by evoking the great masters of disorder, none excluded, to impose order within a story and a personal experience.

However, If you take a closer look, this project of Ludovica seems to be an accurate and detailed map in which, as it always happens with the maps, what is complex turns into a simple symbol, based on universally and immediately shared conventions.

Turning it into a collection of T-shirts, operating an intentional reversal of values, is one of the typical caper she got us used to, choosing the world of fashion as a privileged form of communication among the others. Surely the most agile and fast medium, and the most suitable to her quick and extravagant spirit.

Being a sublime cartographer does not mean always to be also a great explorer: some of the most elaborated world globe ever made are products of absolutely sedentary biographies. However, the ideal process used to realize them is roughly the same proposed by Ludovica: moving from some real-life data, following the advices of the masters and, thanks to a mysterious telluric sensitivity, taking off and adding names until the achievement of a perfect balance between reality and fantasy. That is why the most celebrated world maps have kept for centuries imaginary islands, unlikely mountain ranges and even entire ghost continents.

I consider the collection LA13 as an extension of Ludovica’s gaze on the world.A look that from subjective becomes objective,a sharing approach preserving the amazement and the innocence of children.”

In this project Ludovica staged a great dialogue, no matter if the participants to such a huge symposium have never really met each other, or if they even would have had nothing to say if it would have really happened.

With this project Ludovica has simply suggested to us the shapes and boundaries of an incredibly rich gemstone mine; she showed us the best way to reach it and the basic equipment to survive inside it. The burden of the quest and the pleasure of the discovery are ours.The ones who will deepen this path will be many, and the several names traced on the map in the end there will be only one left: the Truth.
