Ralph Rucci’s triumphant return to Paris

After 15 years absence Ralph Rucci returns to the Couture Calendar in Paris under the label RR 331.

Ralph Rucci, the first American couturier invited to participate in the official Haute Couture calendar after Mainbocher, is back. The designer staged an intimate show at the Ritz, paying tribute to his lifelong friend Elsa Peretti. In an interview to The New York Times, Rucci admits, that the fashion has changed: “Now designers are required not to be designers but to be stylists of society and the moment”. He, however, is “coming back quietly”, and the comeback is not about money or playing fashion politics, “it’s about a language and a culture”. In front of the small audience at the Ritz, Rucci showed a luxurious AW 2019/20 collection, featuring his trademark precision cutting, intricate construction and exuberant elegance in the most beautiful materials and silhouettes.
