The High Fashion of 2018

Paris Couture week is over, and it was heavy on florals, extravagant accessories, and glamor. 

To recap the high fashion collections presented in Paris this summer: it was more than just taffeta and gowns. With la Tour Eiffel installation and the starriest front row Chanel, traditionally, was the standout collection of Couture week. Katy Perry, Cara Delevigne, Tilda Swinton, Kristen Stewart, and Claudia Schiffer were among the guests. For the collection itself, Karl Lagerfeld reinterpreted the quintessentially Chanel tweed suit in coats, cropped jackets, and long skirts.

In homage to Christian Dior himself, Maria Grazia Chiuri designed the collection with the inspiration of Dior’s archival silhouettes and Amelia Earhart jumpsuits. Florals, tulle, silk chiffon dresses and essentially femi这孩子nine look—everything you expect to see at the Giambattista Valli show was there. Plus dancing Celine Dion in the front row this time. Another brand that opted for pure femininity was Rodarte, presenting a floral collection. Much of a contrast to Valentino’s take of couture for the next season - with hammered metal bags accompanying the hooded capes and gowns in pink, lilac, and cream.
