An Original interpretation of bath environment from Kartell by Laufen

Every spring design week catalyzes the international attention on Milan, and as Chinese customers become one of the biggest spenders during global design events, designers explore “East meets West” twist, exhibiting their creations. Case in point: Kartell by Laufen bathroom project, inspired by iconic Italian design of Kartell and rigorous commitment to quality of Swiss Laufen, this year was exhibited at Milano Design Week under the name of ‘dim sum’, bringing in another cultural dimension.

Ludovica and Roberto Palomba, the two creative masterminds of Kartell by Laufen, continued experimentation of the unique bathroom project, which began in 2013 and resulted in a new revolutionary material SaphirKeramic. This high-performance ceramic makes it possible to produce items that are thin as blades, lightweight and aesthetically elevated. The flagship store space was enhanced, generating a unique atmosphere, where cultural inspiration sources don’t clash, but complement each other. The design duo presented simple, traditional forms along with new and amusing silhouettes, embodying the conceptual approach towards bathroom environment beyond its functional properties.
