The Fred Segal name has been synonymous with Los Angeles style since the early 1960s, with stores in California and two locations in Japan.

In Japan, Fred Segal’s retail concept and style are described as “laid-back, luxurious, cultural lifestyle”, and the concept is thriving in the foreign country as much as at home in California. This year, Fred Segal expanded its Japanese footprint, opening its third store in Kobe in the Shosen Mitsui Building, a local landmark. The space has soaring ceilings and is awash with light. In addition to exclusive design lines of clothing, there’s a dining concept, known as The Cellar at Fred Segal, offering more than 200 varieties of California wine and exquisite cuisine. Just like the LA boutiques, that were the first local stores to draw tourists, celebrities, and the paparazzi, the location in Kobe continues the tradition.

The fashion retailer has recently been nominated for the 2018 AAFA American Image Awards, honored in the category ‘Retailer of the Year’.
