The Swedish furniture giant and NASA just collaborated on the highly-coveted collection for small living spaces.

Following research conducted in partnership with NASA’s Mars Desert Research Station, the collection tackles four issues, essential to urban, small space living: time, space, water and air. The IKEA team also spent time in Tokyo, where compact living is not a trend, but a common lifestyle.

In the RUMTID collection you will find furniture that’s ideal for any tiny apartment: a futuristic-looking air purifier, a terrarium, lights, and shelving. IKEA designers also came up with a smart tubing system, that can be built into tables, beds, sofas, and more. Just hold on if you already prepared to hit the “shop” button: there will be a little wait until you can update your apartment with RUMTID pieces, as the collection is planned to be released over four separate launches in 2020.
