The gallery’s first solo exhibition with New York-based artist Tom Sachs, showcasing the artist’s long-standing fascination with Switzerland.

Tom Sachs started referencing Switzerland in his art in the early 1990s: the artist has been long drawn to the nation’s reputation as a global model of wealth and economic prowess, standards of living, political neutrality, and many more aspects, which were perfected in Switzerland. The artist transformed this idealistic image in his work, exploring questions of artificiality, authenticity, and what it means “being a Swiss” in today’s world.

Expect sculptures and paintings that reference Swiss heritage, making an artistic commentary about it in a bold way. The exhibition will also include several works, that extend into Sachs’s other pools of inspiration. On view from December 28th through February 3rd, 2019 in Vito Schnabel Gallery in St. Moritz.
