The first major exhibition of the artist in over 30 years to open at LACMA.

On view from February 17th through June 9th, the retrospective exhibition will showcase approximately 100 paintings, drawings, prints and photograph. White, who used his art to condemn the institutionalized racism faced by African Americans, moved between Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles. In LACMA’s home city, the artist created some of his most famous works. To give more context to Charles White’s retrospective, LACMA will put a complementary exhibition titled Life Model: Charles White and His Students in its satellite gallery at Charles White Elementary School, formerly Otis Art Institute. Don’t miss it!
