That’s new: bacteria in charge of artwork
Philippe Parreno’s exhibition took over Tate until April 2nd.
The French artist, who is known for his flair to fill supersized contemporary art spaces around the world, exhibits in London. His new exhibition Anywhen took over the entire Turbine Hall at the Tate Modern.
The collection of installations include marquee, a giant projection, speakers, lights and moving walls—all of that functioning is controlled by a very special piece of equipment: bacteriological computer, inspired and bought from the CNRS research institute. What this means is that you get a different impression visiting through seasons, as the bacteria-controlled artwork is sensitive to the meteorological and environmental data. Tightening the environment we live in with our creations, is that a new word in art scene?
