The Armory Show of Many Firsts
What was the emblematic NY art fair like.
One of two largest annual fairs took over New York for three days in the beginning of March and it was lots of firsts, but above all, the first major art market event to take place in the Trump era. What does that imply for art sales?
The fair’s director Benjamin Genocchio is optimisctically convinced, that the art market is actually much stronger, than last year. Armory Show reflects that: several booths were sold out before the fair was even open, and dealers received much greater interest this year.
Armory Show connects galleries, that present modern and ‘classic’ contemporary works rarely seen elsewhere. It also gives space to the ‘emerging’ galleries, showcasing young and affordable artists.
