Where Is The Art

Recent ARCO Madrid makes art community wonder, if Argentina is the new el dorado.

Gone are the days, when North American origin was a prerequisite if one wanted to be considered a prominent artist. In our globalized nowadays, artists from every country are enjoying success on the market, with new forces. Recent ARCO in Madrid, which took place from 22 to 26 February had several revelations.

Arco has become the country’s most important contemporary art event, transforming into a European platform for current output from booming Latin American art market. Argentina, which was a guest country for the 2017 edition, had 12 galleries, but the audience could spot Argentinian artists at a number of other booths across the fair. Buenos Aires is also the partner city of a new initiative from the Art Basel Fair and a lot of galleries around the world seem to be betting on the market from Argentina.
