Cannes 2016 : Movies to Watch

Cannes Film Festival is always as spectacular, as it is unpredictable. But this year, forecasting the winners looked a lot like fortunetelling on the crystal ball: murky. The juries admitted, their deliberation might have been the longest in the history of the festival, as this year’s 21 competition entries have been very diverse to say the least.
Certainly, the talk of the festival is the Palm d’Or winner—Ken Loach with his movie «I,Daniel Blake», a social polemic which very few saw to come out victorious. The director himself acknowledged the dissonance of accepting an award for such a movie in such a glamorous setting.

Prolific wunderkind Xavier Dolan, got the Grand Prix for his drama «It’s Only the End of the World», a one of the most divisive film and definitely not an easy watch.

Finally, Cannes film festival hasn’t been all so very kind to many of the pictures, another of Sean Penn’s directorial work «The Last Face» was one of those movies, that fall out of favorites, receiving vicious reviews.
