Listen, Laugh, Watch: summer bucketlist at Nextfest

The Theatre at Ace Hotel, a venue that witnessed cinema’s golden era is about to turn into a home base for Sundance NEXT FEST for three days in August. For the fourth year summer extension of Utah-based Sundance Film Festival in January is coming back to Los Angeles for August 12-14 to offer more for indie movie lovers. The movies that made quite a stir at Sundance this year will get their LA premiere paired with a special music happening or conversations between the filmmakers and those who inspired them.

The weekend celebration of indie will open with a ‘Lovesong’ by So Yong Kim, followed by a performance from Shamir. Long weekend of film, music and comedy is set to bring the vibes of an iconic Sundance festival with a summer twist: the added outdoors space Next Door will offer even more opportunity to celebrate the spirit of music and film in a sunbathed Los Angeles.

Before the attendees get to the films like ‘Morris from America’, ‘White Girl’, ‘Under the Shadow’ and other hits of January’s Sundance, there’s the Night Before Next. A benefit evening celebrating Sundance Institute and its artists, this year will honor Nate Parker the winner of both the grand jury and audience awards for his film “The Birth of a Nation”.
