Sundance Opens 2017 Submissions

If your movie list for the week includes say a documentary about Iranian female rapper, a drama on America’s painful history issues, a twisted romance set in 19th century, a comedy horror and dozens of other offbeat films, you know this variety of genre and voices means it’s Sundance time. Since it’s inception more than three decades ago, it wouldn’t be an overstatement to say, that Sundance Film Festival grew into the cradle of independent movie scene. For the filmmakers, both established and emerging, it’s simply an iconic happening.

Many success stories gone mainstream in the movie world, are inseparable from the festival history itself. It’s enough to remember the hype around Jarmusch’s ‘Stranger then Paradise’, a massive box-office hit of “The Blair Witch Project”, debut of Darren Aronofsky and the classics, ‘Reservoir Dogs’, a film that launched Tarantino’s career. Sundance became a launch platform for a countless number of big cinema names, and it still remains the celebration of independence and bold creativity.
